Strong City Memphis is a social services organization dedicated to addressing generational trauma in communities across Memphis, Tennessee. We believe that prioritizing and maintaining a child’s mental health is essential for their success. By working with families, it is our mission to break generational cycles of trauma that impede the educational and life outcomes of our city's children.
In addition to addressing cycles of generational trauma, Strong City Memphis is committed to building resiliency in children and their families. We provide group sessions and various resources to assist families in raising children in a thriving environment.
Ashunti is a native Memphian and proud graduate of Fairley High School. She has over ten years of experience working with children in need of mental health support. She co-founded Strong City Memphis with her colleagues in 2024 to address generational trauma and build resiliency in families in Memphis. Ashunti earned her MSW degree from Louisiana State University and subsequently became a LMSW.
Classie is a native Memphian and proud graduate Raleigh Egypt High School. She is a Certified Life Coach and Mental Health Group facilitator for children/adolescents. She is the co-founder of Strong City Memphis and is committed to educating families on mental health in order to address generational trauma. Dr. Jessica Cummings, MD is a child & adolescent psychiatrist with over 10 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Cummings is a native Memphian and is passionate about providing children and families the tools they need to reach their full potential.
Ryan was born and raised in the Midwest. He came to Memphis in 2013 to begin a career in teaching. Ryan has taught in public schools in Memphis and Atlanta for over a decade. He has taught all core subjects to upper elementary and middle school students. Additionally, he has received training and experience teaching socioemotional learning (SEL). Ryan holds a deep belief that addressing traumas and their root causes is a prerequisite to the success of students. He is currently working on his doctorate in Educational Policy Studies at Georgia State University.
